Find Care & Housing
Why on earth would you blame yourself for your mom hearing voices?? We caregivers are SO hard on ourselves, but this goes beyond being hard on yourself.......it's merciless. Take mom to the doctor and find out what's at the root of this; dementia? the need for a hearing aid? It's medical in nature, not something you are doing wrong!
Wishing you the best of luck and some relaxation time as well.

Problems, by chance does your Mom wear a hearing aid? My Mom was also hearing voice but once we had her hearing aid adjusted the "talk radio" she was hearing stopped. Just a thought.

I agree check with the doctor. My mother hears voices and it is just another symptom of her dementia. (I too checked with her doctor and googled many sources.) She is confused by it but it isn't a big issue to her. My brother was schizophrenic so the voices were a sign of a more serious issue.

I talk to myself all the time because it helps me think .. then I'm embarrassed when someone hears me but I don't think it is a problem and it helps me. .. I just think out loud to myself.. and I find myself to be a good listener!

I extremely doubt it has anything to do with your care and I don't see any reason for you to be hurt or feel useless. Things will continue to be out of your control. Obviously by the concern you expressed in your question you are doing your best for her.

Hugs. You can do it.

BarbBrooklyn has the correct advice. You have not done anything wrong, nor has your mom. She is ill and needs to see her doctor. It could be something as simple as a urinary tract infection that is causing her to hear voices. I know that sounds odd, but it is true.

Have you spoken to her doctor?

This is a symptom, not a failure of anything you or she has done.

Call her doctor right now and ask her/him what to do.
