My dad feels that as this is a pattern, we should tell my mom her mom has passed. I disagree. What do you think? How should we handle the times when my mom wants to call her mom, etc. Thanks.

My mom asked me today if I knew what happened to her mom. I told her yes. I said she was in heaven. My mom cried and I comforted her. It was very sad, but she said she was happy, in a way, that I told her. She told me she had been feeling guilty for not calling her and not visiting her. She said she wondered why her mom hadn't reached out to her. It was a relief for her, in a way, and I feel that I handled it well. Thank you for your advice. Honesty is the best policy...I should have known...

Tell your Mom that you understand that she wants to call her mom, but that she has passed and is no longer here on earth. Reassure her that she is deeply loved.
