Hi, I'm trying to assist my Mother with information on how she can become my Grandmothers care giver? My Grandmother is 86yrs. and has the begining stages of alzheimer's. My mother noticed that she missed a number of days taking her medicine. I have an Aunt that stays with her however, she's not much use at all. My family (Grandmother/Mother) reside in Lagrange, Georgia.

If your aunt stays with her but your mom wants to be the primary caregiver, mom and aunt need to have a chat.

Asking someone in their 60's to care for someone in their 80's is really not good for either one of them. Plus, the aunt may have issues of her own if she cannot care for mom. The person to talk to is Grandma's MD, and be honest that the aunt cannot handle it. Discuss the options for care that do not include placing the burden on your mother, because it will ultimately fall on you.
