Duffy, check with your local agency on aging https://www.agingcare.com/local/Area-Agency-on-Aging to see if there are lower income senior apartments in your area. That sounds more like what you are looking for, but there are no guarantees that everyone will be young at heart, very mobile, clear minded, etc. Life would be boring if everyone was identical to each other.

You will be moving in with contemporaries who are in the same situation. You ARE older, same as them. You ARE disabled and others will have varying degrees of disability. You MAY get sick but you can have a visiting nurse. You might even die, but that can happen anywhere.
Most IL facilities serve meals, assigned seating and you are expected to be polite and social. What WILL get you kicked out is yelling, swearing or insulting behavior. Think it over.
