Yes, your employer should pay for this. May have to go thru ur insurance first and they pay the balance.

You should have called 911 to admit the client. When you called you should have asked for a CIT who is trained in crisis intervention. Both you and your client could have been treated. I hope your employer has insurance because you ca sue for both medical and damages,

I am so sorry. I have seen assault happen and have had a cane swung at me (that happily missed).
I hope that you went to the ER.

You don't give us any details here.
Did the client have dementia?
Is this a family member or are you a hired caregiver? Your profile says you are giving care 26 years.
Was this a witnessed assault?
Are you working in the home and alone with the client?
Has there been violence before?

Many pieces of advice here are dependent on answers as to whether you are now insured and covered by an agency you were working through, by a facility that hired you, or by a family who hired you as a private contractor to provide care.

There are issues here now of healing and of insurance and coverage that need to be got straight.
I would therefore take your emergency room writeup to the local police. Be certain your injuries are photographed by you or by the police. Get copies of the report.
