You discuss this with your mom. Your mom in most cases will be the one responsible for payi8ng for care. If that care comes from you then you get paid. If mom is living in your home no only should you be getting paid to care for her but she should be contributing to ALL household expenses. (food, gas, electric, mortgage, insurance, garbage, cable...) The best way to do this is to have a Caregiver Contract. You can probably get one on line but the ideal thing would be to spend some time with an Eldercare Attorney and make sure mom has all the paperwork done that needs to be done so that you can legally make decisions for her when the time comes when she can't make decisions for herself. (If mom is a Veteran the VA may also pay you to care for her)
