My mom has latter-stage Alzheimer's. She's completely incontinent but cognizant enough to know she doesn't like pull-ups. So she takes them off and the mess goes everywhere. She's still mobile and would be able to take diapers off too, I'm sure. Her behavior results in clothes and bedding having to be washed over and over, often in the same day. I know we'll get to a stage where this won't be an issue because her cognition will decrease, but this stage is incredibly messy - and sometimes just downright gross! Any ideas would be welcomed. Thanks!

Well......

You are probably going to have to experiment.
If it's the elasticized "cloth" that's irritating her skin (which is where my money is), you can put Poise pads in cotton panties, and then put a pull up on top of that for extra security.

You can also look online for a different brand of incontinence brief. Some of them do NOT have the elasticized construction and are smooth.

Powder her pretty well anywhere the brief is going to touch her. Maybe even use Balmex as a barrier between her skin and brief.

It is a stage, but who knows how long it will last. I hope these ideas help you.

Have you tried different options--maybe another brand of pullups, or a liner than will go into regular panties??

Silverts is one such catalog that has zip up the back clothing and pajamas.

You can buy clothing that only opens in the back (like a jumpsuit) so that she can't get to her undies. If you google "Alzheimers clothing anti-strip" you'll get some options. Good luck with this.
