Find Care & Housing
If the person you are caring for is eligible for Hospice Respite care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most other insurance.
If the person you are caring for is a Veteran the VA may cover Respite care as well.
In general Respite is an out of pocket expense BUT since it is a medical necessity it may be tax deductible. But check with the person that does your taxes.
Otherwise a call to the insurance company or looking over the 3 inch thick book of Benefits might have Respite listed as a covered or non covered item.

Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask. Nobody on a chat forum can possibly answer such a question about what your individual insurance pays for.

Good luck

You posted the above last month and in Sept asking about respite care. In neither did you answer questions asked so more info could me given.

You need to get your ex placed if u can no longer care for him. If you have no POA call Adult Protection Services and tell them u can't do it anymore. The State can take over his care and placing him.

Respite costs money. You can find an AL or NH but the time there has to be paid out of pocket. Medicare only pays for respite care (5 days at a time) when the person is on Hospice care.

By AARP do you mean United Health? That was my brother's insurance, and he had a great policy. Not cheap, but great. They offer many types of policies, with many different coverages, including advantage policies. The best way to check on your coverage is a simple call. I had to have lots of calls with them and thought they were exceptional at servicing when I was POA for my bro. So give a call on coverage.

Reach out to your local council on aging in your area. You may find ways to get care that is without cost for some day care or respite.

After you check availability and affordability you may be needing to think sometime in future about the necessity of placement, division of assets and etc. So start to protect your own money as you are able to now, for the future. So sorry you are getting so worn out and hope you'll update us as to what you can find for some relief in your area. This is such tough stuff.
