I'm 73 and live alone in my own home. I am concerned for my safety as it is a mess with all the excess items around the house. I have heart issues and my meds make me unsteady and fall prone. I would like to clean up the mess and friends have tried to help, but they don't really know how to do this. Is there any group, person, or association that could help me with this? Oprah where are you when I need you??? LOL I live on a VERY limited income so I have no money to hire an organizer. Thank you for any input.

I have no advice. But I did want to praise you for recognizing what needs to be done and taking on what must be a difficult job. Best of luck finding help!!

Yes, I am working on getting it out of the house and I get rid of some things every day. I just need physical help and guidance/support from someone that is familiar with the problem.

Are you ready to let things go? My dad is a hoarder finds it almost impossible to let me or anyone toss anything. I have to use clear plastic bags and have to show him each thing before I put it inside. Even stuff that is obvious garbage, ie ripped table cloths, used paper napkins.

If you are ready to let things go, contact your local seniors agency and ask if they know of anyone who can help you.
