I would think that Florida of all States has resources with all the retirees are. A friend of mine had a Summer home down there. When it was found her husband had MS, they sold their house here and moved to Fla because of the resouces there. That was years ago. Just saw a picture of them and he looks great.

Also contact her local area's Agency on Aging. The county where she resides may have an Elder Waiver program, which is Medicaid for those who remain their home -- but you mom needs to qualify medically and financially. You can contact a social worker to see if she can have an assessment.

First, you'll need to determine what programs Florida does have, and then whether or not they  meet your  needs.

Start with the state; look for "elder care" services, or a similar topic, and use your findings to create a checklist and synopsis of care.   Check also at the county level.

If her husband or she is eligible for Veterans benefits, check out that option as well.   There are Veterans' groups, such as the American Legion, which can handle filing for you to qualify, and at no charge to you.
