husband has been on this dose for about three months, I see many positive changes, back to reading, concentration on a ball game, I read where it's meant to help the caregiver more then the patient, so they can help peel potatoes etc, only problem it's a two hour demo to show him everything, and forgets in two minutes. Back to my question, this past five days he has been acting very matter of fact, like he's the boss & I do what he says, this is going on from waking till bedtime & driving me nuts, he's speaks aggressively - which is out of the ordinary for him. Do you think it could be the high dose Exelon is causing the swing in his behavior, becoming the one in charge, it's scary.

Thanks MaggieM. I have been reading the info on that site but overlooked the aggrestion %, but went through much of it again this morning for three hours. This morning he is back to his sweet self, he's late stage 6, I took coffee up at 9am he was already in the shower & washing his hair, and singing, he can do most everything himself in the bathroom, but I stay up there if he has a question & sort of oversee, he fully dressed himself and very calm. I did put a new patch on this morning, as I didn't want to make any changes and have this get out of control again. Something is setting him off, if he's ok with the patches again, then it's some other issue. But really, thanks for your reply. Pam I see too much "pro" to the use of the patches, he's titrated from lowest dose to the highest - with it he can discuss the news, read the newspaper again, read anything he picks up, does dishes, vacuums, I have to be near him, but it's good as it makes him feel useful again. This " glitch" of the past few days was scary for me, as I've been down that road with this disease, but I dealt with it with all I had, redirection to the max, finally able to get his night meds in by 8 pm, settles him right down, asleep by 9 and sleeps through the night, till 9 10am. I just hope the rest of today is calm, baseball game just started, that will help.

Exelon is only a temporary fix. You may have met the limit. Call the MD.

According to rx list, of 280 patients studied, .4% experienced aggression to the 13.3 Exelon Patch. Obviously a rare reaction, yet if you're one of the .4%, it's unacceptable. (9.6% discontinued the patch because of a variety of adverse reactions.) http://www.rxlist.com/exelon-patch-side-effects-drug-center.htm

I'd talk to his doctor.
