Hospice
Hospice is end-of-life care for critically ill patients who are expected to live 6 months or less. Hospice care controls pain for those who are dying, treats disease-related symptoms and makes the patient as comfortable as possible. Hospice care can be given in the home (inpatient), or in a hospice center. Depending on services needed Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance plans and health maintenance organizations (HMOs) may cover some of the costs.
