Sendme2help, yes, you must drain the water before exiting the tub. That doesn't take as long as I imagined, because the pipes are larger. But I would not get out of the tub to answer the door or the phone. The world can go on without me while I soak and read a book!

(Contrary to what many young people assume, we do not need to be available to be contacted 24/7.)

How does one get out of a walk-in tub if you need to answer the door or phone? Do you have to drain the water, or what?

Online reports of scams concerning these tubs ,some were arrested for cheating the elderly. Do a yelp search for the company. If it is bad news, make a police report. Everyone wants a tub like these, hope it works out for your friend. Not all tubs are scams. Just an expensive product ripe for cheating salesmen. Same as siding, hot tubs, and now solar panels. Be careful.

Does this tub have air jets? Water jets?

Mine has air jets. They come on automatically a certain length of time after they have been in use and shut off. This is to clear out any water in them. The first time I used them, drained the water, and got out of the tub, I was very puzzled and worried when they came back on all by themselves! But that is how they are supposed to work! They also shut off automatically.

Is this the kind of "trouble" your friend is having with her tub?

I think consulting the doctor is about using the jets, not about using the tub itself. I think your friend should simply ask her doctor is there is any reason she shouldn't use the jets.

I absolutely love my walk-in tub. They are quite expensive, aren't they?, and your friend should be able to use hers and get pleasure from it. I hope you can help her get satisfaction. Try calling the tub manufacturer directly.

Let us know how this gets resolved.
