Carol Bradley Bursack, Jul 8, 2010
Over the span of two decades author, columnist and speaker Carol Bradley Bursack cared for a neighbor and six elderly family members. Because of this experience, Bradley Bursack created a portable support group, the book "Minding Our Elders: Caregivers Share Their Personal Stories."
I've tried most things out, as I have arthritis that affects my hands. I still like a gizmo that looks like a wrench and fits over the top of a jar. There are little holes in it to calibrate it for the size of cap. However, it doesn't fit everything. I got that years ago at a hardware store.
You may want to search online for "Arthritis friendly" or something, and also try the Arthritis site at http://www.arthritis.org/.Carol

My Mom uses and electric jar opener. She sets the jar inside of this contraption. This ring comes down over the jar, tightens, then twists the lid open. Works really well:
