Mimi Jacobs, Aug 19, 2011

Mimi Jacobs, PT, MPT, GCS, OCS, is the founding Executive Director of Fox GERI: Geriatric Education and Research Institute. She is a Senior Physical Therapist for Fox Rehabilitation specializing in residential geriatric therapy, and the Director of the Fox Geriatric Residency Program.

I suggest speaking with the nursing staff and medical director of the nursing home and letting them know of your concerns. I also suggest contacting the primary care doctor, if it is not the same as the medical director of the nursing home. You may also want to consider contacting your county's Area Agency on Aging and/or state's Department of Health and Senior Services. Both of these agencies will provide information on resources available in your area.

Talk with her primary care doctor. He or she can order more physical therapy. If they do not have a physical therapist at her nursing home, they will have to transport her to a facility that has one or a PT can come to her.
good luck
