...Read MoreWhat a lot of sense you write. Dad has been living with us 5 years. Living together has been going down hill For the last 2. His behaviour and probable dementia along with the fact that there have been 4 generations living in the same house led us to make the monumental decision to put him in a home.
This has been the hardest choice I have ever had to make. Cried for days, guilt difficult to deal with.At the end of the day it was the right thing to do for everyone.
Slowly I learn to live with what I've done and I can feel the pressure slowly releasing from the household. I see dad most days and on my part I feel like we can communicate again. The one thing I do regret is putting my family through the last 2 years,at times it was unbearable. I Ishould have done something sooner but you go on until you hit the brick wall that tell you to stop.
I'm going to see my doc about councelling I think I need it.If you are thinking about living with an elder seek advice before you do. Alot like me regret it and wouldn't do it again. Then again some do it and never regret what they've done.
