I know the pains of taking care of someone you love, how you think if only they would "cooperate", they would get well...you have to keep in mind your Dad was a man of his own, and all these ailments do not change the person he was, or IS, inside. He has to live in that declining body, and I'm sure it pisses him off and or makes him angry and depressed. I had keratitis (corneal infection) in my left eye, it went cloudy, went to the eye doctor, got eye drops, prayed, prayed some more, which in God's infinite grace and mercy, I was healed of the problem. I lost vision in that eye for a period of two weeks, and just THAT made me think, WHYYYYYYYY? I have been good to people, I have always stood up for what is right, I have to take care of my Mom, who is bipolar, AND legally blind, with NO help from siblings, so why am I having to deal with this? Do you see my point?
I can only speak of temporarily losing sight in one eye, to lose it permanently would take a strong person to buck up and "take it" and be strong. I want my Mom to take her meds, go to the doc regularly, keep herself cleaner, eat right, get involved in social activities, but she refuses to do all of the above. She, just like your Dad, are tired of the fight. And they wonder how much longer they are going to have to fight it. I would be the same way.
How much can one human being deal with?
