We sympathize and we understand. People here also have good practical advice and answers. I have learned a lot from them and from reading their posts. I am in a "quiet" period now with my parents---with Mom deceased and Dad now in a senior facility; so I come to this site to encourage others, in the way that I needed encouragement before. ( I wish I'd found this site years ago.) My Mom also was an alcoholic ( like yours), which adds more difficulty to a situation. My Mom blocked me from getting Dad to stop driving, saying to me: "If he can't drive, he'd just as soon be dead." and "That's too much to ask of him." She was tough to deal with. Mom refused to give up her 87 year old doctor, when I pleaded with her to get a new younger doctor. I think she liked that she could do as she pleased, having an elderly doctor who couldn't "keep tabs" on her because he himself was so low on energy. When Mom was dying, this doctor added immense stress to the situation because he was of NO help to me or my mother. The situation became almost unbearable for me. I made it through that period with prayer, and "angels" in the form of human beings who came to my aid. I am thinking of you, Jody, and pulling for you! Here's your hug!
