If she has problems with mobility that adds up to the level of
care, but if she has marbles and can take care of herself, like cooking and dressing up and taking shower, then she has the right to deny herself from outside help, otherwise, the State Mental Health can come in the picture of her life if reported for the sake of her safety and welfare. You can tell her in advance that she has to have some help other than her family because there are repercussions of being alone at her age.
I had a neighbor who was alone, she used to drink beer by herself. One night she put a wash cloth in the oven to dry after taking a bath. There was smoke everywhere. She forgot she put a wash cloth in the oven and went to sleep. The fire alarm sounded in the neighborhood. I got her out before the Fire Dept crew arrived. Luckily, my husband had a key to her house. They had been neighbors with his mom for a long long time. I took care of my mother in law for 4 years. Goodluck to you and I hope this story will help her decide what is best for her safety.
