The first thing I'd do is get informed about the condition so I won't sound like an idiot when I sit down with her and talk about it calmly -- all the while holding her hand and sipping coffee with the other. Starting with "Baby, I'm worried about ..." usually works for me. When that doesn't work, I become more persuasive because I care.
A couple of stages of evolution ago I did contemplate grabbing her by the shoulders and shake her back and forth. Now I prevent issues like these by paying close attention to whoever the woman in my life happens to be, share my concerns about her health in a civilized manner, and refuse to be with anyone who doesn't care about herself. I'm not going to throw hissy fits, give silent treatments, lose sleep, and keep repeating myself over and over like I used to during my caveman years. ...That kinds of stress, my friend, is no longer an option.
Hope that helps.
