...Read MoreYes, I have gone through this too.....not the same circumstances but very close! My mother was starting to want to have pity parties, I say on a regular basis that she wanted to die, and end it all, that she was depressed and that if I couldnt bring back all her friends, husband, and folks that died, she had no point in living,,,,,,, that is a form of manipulation, and a way for her to get my attention..............I DO NOT CONDONE PITY PARTIES, ever! now I tell her that if she talks that shit I will have her baker acted, as I have had to do that in the past, when she was living on her own a few years back, and I was afraid she would od, on benadryl or whatever, but came to find out that she was depressed, but used this verbal nonsense to get more attention! for me thats not an option! I do not condone this crap, I will not, and If i hear her start that crap, I take off time from her visits and find ways to put her on punishment for saying it, I used to be doormat and let everything get to me! NOT ANYMORE, I know this is much easier said then done, but u need to try!
