I have been reading all these comments and updates that you lovely, caring people have posted.

I made my post in Dec 2008, and I am amazed at the responses it gets every year about this time.
Since that first post, my FIL passed away after neck surgery and rehab ( yes, he did walk again!!!), CHF got him.
My husband is now MIL's legal guardian ( but only of her physical person), SIL has financial control (from Illinois). Mom is still hanging in there, completely bedridden, feeding tube, catheter, etc.
The siblings that live here say that they won't come over because they say my hubby drove them away. Cards come with no return address, we don't get to see our nieces and nephews because their parents won't bring them over.
So our attitude is TO HELL WITH THEM. We will muddle through, we will be there until the end, and oh by the way, did I mention we had to fight this out in court?????
