I too am in similar situation & i actually asked that same questions about a month ago. I got the same positive responses from members of this site. They say I shouldn't put my love life on hold & on "hostage" because I care for my mom, me being the only caregiver. It's more difficult for me because im an only child, i am a single parent & my daughter is just 10 1/2 yrs old & still going to school & my mom is 78 and has all sorts of aches & pains & alzheimer's. I have by force of circumstances remained celibate and unmarried because of my predicament. Now at my age of almost 39, i decided to open up my heart again and seek the man of my life. Most here always advise me that life is not a dress rehearsal, that I should be like that flight attendant who tells passengers to put on their oxygen mask before helping others... they say how can i help my mom & my daughter if my own needs are neglected. That's very true. One comes to a point in their lives when they say it's my turn, my needs should come first before my own mom's. So this is that point in my life.
Anyway, I'm curious about that motion detector u mentioned. How much is it? Where can I buy it? is it connected to your webcam laptop so u can see ur mom even if you're few meters away from her? I live in the Philippines, so i might go thru complicated arrangement to get it. I hope it's not too expensive. My house is small so I don't need to worry about being too far away. My only apprehension is when the time comes my partner in life or boyfriend would ask me to go out of town like we need to fly over to an island for a get-away... then that motion detector gadget is useless. I guess I will opt for an online security camera but that is another story. Regards and good luck to your caregiver tasks too. God bless us all caregivers.
