Taking care of a loved one in your home means nothing to our gov't. I know people who are young, and healthy who get more benefits than my mom who worked all her life. Of course we love our family member who needs our help, but who is there to help us with any benefit, even if it is just credit for retirement. The rest of my family is racking up retirement benefits and a nice career. I don't complain about caring for my mom, I resent hearing about how all we do is complain that the gov't should give us something. Look, we're saving the gov't thousands and not getting anything in return for it. Can't even get a tax deduction for the elder care that comes from my husbands pocket so that I can go to wallmart to grocery shop. I resent people saying that we are government money suckers. I know people that don't work that can and suck the gov't for everything they can get. They don't take care of anyone but themselves. Don't blame people that work their tailends off and accuse them of not caring. I've been a caregiver for ten years and many have done it for longer. I give a hug to all caregivers. It's a thankless job. People wouldn't do it if they were'nt doing it out of love, There are many places for the sick to live if they don't have someone to take care of them. People take care of their loved ones because they love them, not because of the high pay and benefits.
