Mary A. Languirand received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1987, and completed a year-long internship in clinical geropsychology at the R. H. Hutchings Psychiatric Center in Syracuse, NY.
Dr. Languirand co-authored "The Thinking Skills Workbook" (Charles C. Thomas, 1980, 1984, 2000), and co-authored (with Robert Bornstein) "When Someone You Love Needs Nursing Home, Assisted Living, or In-Home Care" (Newmarket Press, 2009) and "Healthy Dependency" (Newmarket Press, 2002).

Dr. Languirand is a Fellow of the Maryland and Pennsylvania Psychological Associations, and a Member of the American Psychological Association and Society for Personality Assessment. She has worked as a geriatric counselor, coordinator of a mental health crisis unit in York, PA, and Director of the Psychology Department at Brook Lane Psychiatric Center in Hagerstown, MD, where she developed a multidisciplinary treatment program for older adults.
Dr. Languirand continues to provide direct service to individuals, couples, and families in Garden City, NY, as well as offering consultation and training to educators, administrators, physicians, mental health professionals, and allied health professionals in a variety of educational and treatment settings.
