Statins, the medication given to lower Cholesterol, has been found to contribute to Dementias. Members have commented when LOs are taken off of statins that their cognitively seems better.
If statins are recommended, I would discuss what I posted with the doctor. My DH can lower his with diet.
I’m assuming you are referring to apolipoprotein e, which has been implicated in Alzheimer’s. Perhaps some other members have experience with this. If you feel you may be effected, it’s a good conversation to have with your physician. Stay safe and hope you get the answers you’re looking for.
