My stepfather is in his nineties. A bro is the main care giver. He said that our stepfather is becoming unable to handle a blade razor. I did a web search for electric razors for seniors, and the information is quite overwhelming. Not only is the information voluminous, but it doesn't really help determine the most appropriate one.

Would people here be willing to share their anecdotes on the electric razor that they use?

I've listed the ones that are considered suitable by various websites. I see that Braun Series 7 790CC is always among the top, as is Panasonic Arc 4 or 5. Philips Norelco also tends to rank high, but different models, so it's are to infer a choice from that

Wow! Those are quite the lists. How do you decide? On a previous post I recommended Philips Norelco. I've used Philips for many years. Most electrics have vibrating foils that do the cutting while Philips have three replaceable rotating blades. Razors specifically for older men who may have trouble gripping the razor, (I guess that would mean with arthritis or maybe tremors) are significantly more expensive than “standard” razors. The pricey razors, up to $250, have features like adjustable sensitivity and speed. You can find a rechargeable Philips with flex heads and trimmer for under $40. Of course, you can also buy the $100 model. I would also recommend an electric pre-shave lotion like Lectric Shave to soften the beard and make for a closer cut.

Thanks, sjplegacy. Unfortunately, I don't have a means of deciding. Even for the Philips Norelco, different models show up on different lists. But the bro has already ordered Panasonic MILANO 3-Blade Black Rechargeable Linear Shaver from Cosco.

Awhile back someone posted this same question.

A regular poster said he liked the Norelco.

Best of luck with your dad.

I am getting ready to purchase an electric razor to shave my mom’s chin hair that she finds irritating to her. A long time poster shared that this worked well for her mom.

Thanks, NeedHelpWithMom. Nice of you to shave your Mom. Hopefully the person who liked Norelco can chime in. The models I found were all over the map.
