"Was his wife for 20 yrs" I will assume this means they are divorced? If so, she is not entitled to anything. Even if married, the surviving spouse may not be able to receive part of the pension. The Vet has to pay into a survivors benefit plan to guarantee the spouse gets anything. I am talking about a pension received with at least 20 yrs of service.

There is Aids and Attendance but you have to be married. The Vet has to have served during wartime. They also have to be 65 I think and income is considered.

Your best bet would be to make an appt with your County VA office. Make sure you have Dads military records. Also understand that the spouse is not entitled to everything ur Dad may have received. I have 2 friends whose husbands use the local VA hospital as their supplimental insurance using the doctors there . My friends cannot receive that benefit so they pay separately for their supplimentals.

Maybe and maybe not. Many places have a local VA advocate that can help answer any questions you might have. Our local advocate ended up helping three family members get their pension and agent orange benefits as war time veterans and a widow spouse of one of those is now under review. It never hurts to ask.

If your dad got a VA pension, she might be eligible for a survivor's pension. she may be eligible for VA Aid Attendance. Contact your local VA office and get her assigned a VA caseworker.
