Hospice nurse is recommending boosters be added to pullups for my mom with some dementia who forgets to use RR often. She has CHF & takes Lasix.

I have to order these myself so I need recommendations from this most helpful community. Any certain brands? Will insurance pay for these? Hospics only provides pullups.

Find Care & Housing
"Boosters" my eye. This practice is called double-padding and it is prohibited in many care settings, including facilities and community services. I must admit I am shocked that a hospice nurse has recommended it to you.

If the hospice service you are using is contracted to manage your mother's continence care and only provides pull-ups, then they must provide pull-ups with the right capacity for the individual patient. Dig your feet in on this one. It is *their* problem to solve, according to best practice guidelines, and not yours.

Meanwhile, institute a regular bathroom schedule for your mother, with extra visits shortly after her Lasix dose(s). She can't remember to give herself time to get to the bathroom so she needs help with that.
