My wife needs bathroom help once or twice a night. That cost me thousands I don't have. Any ideas?

Would she consider using disposable underwear that you could change while she remains in bed?

donwin4, this is a tough situation on what to do. Have you tried limiting your wife's liquid intake in the evening, thus no water after 7pm, to see if that will help. I know as we all start getting older, there is that night time trot to the bathroom. For myself I need to learn to start taking my evening pills earlier in the evening instead of just before going to bed.

Jeanne had a good point about talking to your wife's doctor. There are medications that help limit the urge to go to the bathroom.

I understand what you are saying, and it is very frustrating. I hope others will have good suggestions.

Have you talked about this with her doctor?

No - we still have to lift her on & off and change her once and a while. To get someone in for the night is such a waste since only about one half hour is used.

Could she manage a bedside commode by herself?
