The facility does not allow bed rails . They do check on her every couple of hours but she gets up between checks.

The hospital beds can be lowered pretty far down. Since this is happening alot, ask that mats be put down. If they don't have them, buy them. Making sure her name is permanently on them. My Mom had a concave mattress. Made it harder to get out.

Most decent facilities have bed alarms. Maybe you could enquire about that. Not sure why they don’t allow bed rails. My mom had them in rehab and she doesn’t even have dementia. It was just to keep her from falling out of bed. I wish you the best. None of this is easy.

Restraints are illegal. They should know enough to at least put her mattress directly on the floor. But, she can still fall while walking around. I'm sorry to say there's not much they can do.

During in-home care my 100-yr old Aunt (with mod/adv dementia) who only could walk with a person holding her up, got out of her barricaded bed during one night and fell and broke her hip. She had fallen 2x prior with her family caregivers standing right next to her.

If you are her MPoA I would start working out in your head what you will decide when she inevitably falls and has a profound injury. I decided against surgery for my Aunt since she would never cooperate with the PT and she most likely would never regain her pre-fall abilities. In rehab she kept trying to get out of bed, even with a broken hip.
