Tell us a bit more about your mother, Jacob. Being disagreeable to family and hired caregivers is such a common thing. Many elders don't want anyone in their homes. I can understand that. I don't think any of us want strangers or anyone we're not used to being in our homes for too long. I know it must be hard to be faced with either having to have someone there or going to a facility. Many seniors feel they are more capable than they actually are, and they don't need any help. Others are just grouchy and take out their frustrations on people close to them. Tell us a bit more about your mother and people may have some suggestions.

If you could, please come back and let us know what your mom's health issues are.... that would help us to help you.... but I know it is very hard for them to let strangers into their home, their 'safe' place.... let us know more and we will be happy to share our experiences with you..... hugs

Are you able to ask her? I don't know whether she is impaired cognitively or not is why I wondered if you're able to ask. Maybe she's just plain mad at having to HAVE to be in the position for someone to help her. It is pretty frustrating not to be able to do the things that you used to be able to do on your own. I don't know, just a thought.
