Most likely because of what you stated in your profile. You miss him.

How long have you been married? Of course it is going to be a big adjustment for you.

Hugs!

You love and miss him....but you are taking care of him. You are making sure he is safe, fed, and looked after, even though you are no longer able to do it yourself.

Caring for someone with dementia is a daunting task.
there are many ways to care for someone.
You can care for someone yourself in your home doing all that has to be done 24/7/365 and you are sure to burn yourself out. You can get help in that can spell you for a few hours a day several days a week. I can tell you no one can be a caregiver 24/7/365.
You can be a caregiver by letting someone else care for him in a setting that is made for taking care of the needs and disabilities that come with dementia. You are still a caregiver, you are an advocate. Placing someone is a Memory Care facility is NOT giving up it is realizing that you can't do it all, all the time and letting someone else share that burden lets you be his wife first and a caregiver second.

It was stressful and I was becoming resentful . I felt that there is no one to help me and I thought I could take care of him but I was fooling myself
