My mom is 84, a few years back she started neglecting personal hygiene. I have stepped in trying to help the situation, always ends up in a huge argument. Last few weeks she suffered a mini stoke , and luckily movement on her right side has come back except strength in her dominant right arm. She cannot shower, it’s evident, yet she insists she has. What do I do?? 🤦‍♀️

Find Care & Housing
I suspect it is because you want HER to change.

Your mom may now lack the physical, cognitive and/or insight-based ability to take care of her hygiene. In short, she is no longer capable of managing this part of her life alone.

Have you spoken to her doctor about this? Have her cognitive and executive functioning been assessed?

Find out if the physician will write an order for a once a week bath aide.
