This person has 1 son left but he resides out of state. Is he to be responsible for her care. Speaking to him he says he's got medical problems, can't handle the heat and doesn't get along with mom. Should Elderly Protective Services be called in.

It doesn't sound like this son is going to take responsibility for his mother. Do call Adult Protective Services to evaluate what she needs.

Much depends on whether mom is in a state with "filial responsibility" laws. Nevada does not require the son to be responsible unless there is something in writing such as a POA or care contract. Definitely call APS to check on her welfare. Bless you for caring.
