I have called hospice and they said that once my father is accepted in hospice we can't have him taken to the hospital if he dies we have to call hospice so who signs the death certificate
You need to ask your hospice provider what the procedure is for your state. Usually it is the RN or Medical Director for Hospice, but it may vary due to state law.

Here in NY the nurse signs the preliminary death certificate that you need to have before the funeral home will pick up the body. The "official" death certificate signed by the coroner is then retrieved by the funeral director. You'll need several of those, because everyone seems to want a certified copy.
