This is a question for the company you work for, which either does or does NOT supply gloves; if they do not it will be on you to supply them.

It depends on what the care contract says. Some homecare companies supply gloves and other necessary PPE for their caregivers. Some don't and leave that up to the client or the employee.

We give the client (and their families) a choice. They can supply gloves and other PPE the caregiver may need, or they pay an extra fee to the agency to have us supply it.

I've had a few incidents where the client family decided to supply gloves and PPE themselves. Then the gloves and masks run out, no one went to the store, etc... The caregivers do not provide any hands-on care without gloves and masks, this includes feeding and dressing. No exceptions. Most homecare workers keep a box of gloves and masks in their car anyway. I always did. If the family is supposed to be supplying these things, the aides should not make it a habit to use their own.

Family supplies gloves. There should be an over the counter expense clause in their insurance that reimburses the expense if they have Medicare supplemental. My uncle has a $50 monthly over the counter expense that is used for gloves, gauze, tape and so on.

We had caregivers from two companies. Both gave out information packets that spelled out expectations, including that the care recipients’ household provided gloves.
