My husband sleeps all day. We have Hospice care for him. I'm very depressed at the moment. I cannot give anyone hints how to survive this thing. We cannot afford assisted living. I have investigated that idea. Assisted Living is for the wealthy, not ordinary people such as us.

Susie, so sorry to read about your hubby, and that he is on Hospice care. I wouldn't recommend any type of move since your husband has Alzheimer's/Dementia [as per your profile] as moving can create a lot of confusion for those with those type of medical conditions.

I see that you live in California, and that State offers a lot of excellent programs for the Elderly and for Caregivers. Contact your local council on aging.... go to the website link below.... click on your State.... now click on the city/county. The agency should be able to direct you. https://www.agingcare.com/local/Area-Agency-on-Aging

Please look into Medicaid. They should be able to help place him in a nursing home and upon approval, hopefully cover the cost.

Hello Susie, all i have is to offer my sympathy. It is so scary to look ahead to what will happen to us caregivers. I hope other members here can offer something practical. Does your hospice provide 'respite' care for you? I know that's just a temporary reprieve, and doesn't answer your question. Hugs to you. ~Janet
