I’ve looked for help everywhere and cannot find anything on personal items being stolen when admitted to hospital. I had two rings on when I checked in and they removed my large silver ring but I was allowed to wear my wedding ring. They placed my cell phone and I thought my big ring in with my cell phone. I was in hospital for 6 days. When I was discharged, my ring was not in the envelope. There was a checkin page that marked all the items I had place in their care. I never seen this sheet until I was being discharged. I would have questioned why they only marked one ring and why they said I had shoes on (which I did not). I was not even shown this page because my signature is no where on there when it should have been signed in and out. It had two spots for patients signature as I stated one in and out and I signed either one. The same day of me departing, there was a woman in the van with us that had her sterling silver rose necklace taken as well. I’m not even sure if I am asking the right site. No one at the hospital will help me. Does anyone know what or who I can contact to report the hospital? I’ve already made the police report. If they would just look at the video it would definitely show me taking the ring off and giving it to the two nurses but they keep saying they would, then they say we can’t get the videos, so I’m lost on what to do next. Thank y’all in advance and I hope this question is allowed.

If you were able to, you should have been asked to sign off what items were in the envelope. Then you would have had a complaint when everything or not was returned. Its really their word against yours. Someone took that ring and not sure if the Hospital is responsible for someone on their staff.

First, you ask the info desk at the hospital how to report "missing" items from your visit and then make sure to do that and follow up. Then report it to the police as a theft (and make sure the hospital knows you're going to also report it separately).

Do you have any pictures of what the items look like? Even if there was a security camera in the room when you handed over the items, it it A LOT of work for the police to get access to this and look through hours and hours of video... and so the amount of the theft may need to be at a felony level for them to pay any attention to it.

My stepFIL had his wedding ring stolen by either his legal guardian or the staff at the LTC facility where he lived. My MIL is in LTC and we've taken her engagement/wedding rings off and keep them at home. I'm so sorry, I wish I had better suggestions for you.
