I am in need of transportation from a same day surgical procedure being done at General Hospital. I am 55 yrs old, and I live in Dupont. I do not have anyone I can ask to a ride home from a same day surgical procedure being performed at General Hospital. Do you have any services that would provide this. Or , could you point me in the correct direction for help?

Find Care & Housing
Contact the regional transit authority and find out if they have door to door service. There are two types of buses: the linehaul, for the established routes over greater distances, and the small bus, connector or dial-a-ride, depending on what the transit authority calls it.

The latter can provide door to door service, sometimes within a given radius from the pickup point.

There are also specific transit vans which are much more expensive and charge by the hour. They may wait during the procedure, but charge for that waiting time. And they're expensive - when I called several months ago, trip time was $40 each way, plus waiting time. You could probably get a taxi cheaper.

A hospital may also have a "chit" for a free transportation service, perhaps one way or round trip.
