CHOOCHOO, the way I look at it, if a senior cannot afford to make the repairs for him/herself, then it is time to downsize and move into something more affordable.
If the senior has neglected his/her house because of the lack of funds, there could be a lot of things that need major repair. Time to sell before it gets out of hand.
Check with her local assessor's office. Many cities and towns offer weatherization repairs under a federal grant. It is possible to get a roof, sump pump, gutters, storm doors and other items, depending on what your municipality offers
