Are you in Texas as well? If so in RGV as well? to me, that would be a big determining factor to base your actions on.
97 suggestion on Area on Aging is excellent. I’m guessing you know this part of TX and my answer is based on this... for AoA there are actually 2 up in Bexar County that are excellent with bigger staff and tie into medical / geriatric services within UT Health Science Center in SA. 1 is for metro area and one for outside it and dips down into upper RGV. The office fir Ombudsman are within the AOA for Texas, so if she ends up needing “ward of the state” action done the Ombudsman can help with that. Office for both on Loop410 in the building where IRS is, it’s kinda at edge of the ‘09. There is / was someone on this site from RGV, I’ll PM her to see if she’s still checking in, as she may have ideas. I have old ranch friends in GeoWest and hebberonville and they all have done the move to have their elders leave RgV & go up to Bexar / Comal as more options whether on Medicaid or private pay. Not that RGV doesn’t have facilities but if you as familia or DPOA don’t live there, it’s a butt rash to have to drive down or fly into Htown or SA to get into RGV. There was lots of elders from RGV in the facilities my mom & my aunts & uncles were in in Central TX/SA.
Kittyshelp Contact your local Area Agency on Aging to see if they can do a needs assessment for your aunt and help her find appropriate care. If you don’t live nearby, you might want to consider finding her a facility near you. Are you her POA? That would help you be able to make arrangements for her.
Your profile says Alzheimer’s disease. I wood most likely look into assisted living facility with the option of memory care if needed in your area. Google it, research.
