Need help with general housekeeping and landscaping duties. We are no longer able to keep up appearances, living in our own home. Husband, 90 yrs. old and Wife, 85.
Do you want a single person that will perform all of these duties? I think you will have a hard time finding that.
Or do you mean a home aid that comes in several times a week? You can contact your local area on aging and they should be able to help you.
I think that hiring a company that will come out and give you a firm quote for yard work will be your safest route, my stepmom never even talks to her crew. They show up on a scheduled day, do her yard and the company mails her a bill monthly.
Depending on what you want done in the house, a service would also be safer, licensed, bonded and insured. You can have them come in 1 to 4 times a month to do the deep cleaning that makes the house sparkling or you can get a light job. I recommend at least once a month for a deep cleaning and you will find that it keeps it up pretty well. When I was working and entertaining a lot, I needed every 2 weeks to keep things up, now I am sure once a month (every 4 weeks) would be great.
You just need to interview and get quotes from 3 minimum of each service, then give them a shot. Never sign any long term contracts, you don't want to be stuck with a rotten company.
Be sure and lock up any valuables, wallet, purse, cash, jewelry, don't want to entice anyone.
