Abf, only the Assisted Living facility can evaluate to see if your father-in-law is ready to move to Assisted Living. Thus, yelling at you any time you remind him to pay bills isn't on the Assisted Living list of requirements.

One usually goes into Assisted Living when they are no longer able to live on their own, and need around the clock care.... if there aren't family members who can do the caregiving.

Who is father-in-law's financial Power of Attorney? There does come a time when elders just don't want to bother with bill paying. My Dad was that way, mainly because it was my Mom who did all the bill paying during their 70 years of marriage, thus when she passed, Dad didn't know what to do. So I took over the bill paying as I was his financial Power of Attorney... all the bills were sent to my home.
