my dad's confusion, forgetfulness and delusional behavior is increasing quickly and i'd like to get him to see someone who can help us as his regular doctor is of little help. what type of doctor should he see? my dad has been taking Aricept for 3 years and doesn't seem to be helping very much. also, what is the best way to discuss this with my dad without hurting his feelings? when I try talking with him it usually ends in denial on his part and feeling helpless on mine.... any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks...

Find Care & Housing
Look for a geriatric doctor who should become your father's primary care doctor. Also find a neurologist to evaluate your father's mental state. You can call a local hospital or your local medical society and ask for a referral. Your current doctor could also suggest a neurologist. But if he hasn't been helpful in the past, seek help elsewhere . There are also "Top Doctor" books that list highly recommended doctors in various states. Check your local library or google "Top Doctors". Good luck.
