NYD ,, your FIL sounds like my dad. But he is loosing the ability to fake it anymore ,, things are coming out like ,, can I put the pancakes in the toaster. or Put the pancake syrup in the oven. My brother had to tell him it was pouring rain because he didn't notice ,, then later when I called he said to me "It really poured rain here !" ,, I know he did not know this ,, but was repeating what my brother had said so it would look like he knew what he was saying.

For my FIL I think it started a long time ago when he didn't want anyone thinking he was old. Keeping up appearances is exhausting. He put stress on himself and stress took its toll. I think we may be approaching the time when FIL gets diagnosed with something because he's cracking under the pressure of show timing. This morning he called my husband and said he had no energy and was on the floor. Hubby is on his way with his dad to the neurologist whose office is next to the ER.

Seems to me that started decades before he was even incompetent! The result of testosterone poisoning... leaving him unable to admit there was ever anything he couldn't do, Dementia didn't change that,

I didn't know it had a name ,, I know it exhausts him to do this ,, and he sleeps a lot afterwards .. but my brother started to catch it ,, now we are getting the ball rolling that he's on board and knows dad has some Stage of Dementia ,, waiting for doctor consult
