My mother is 78, on dialysis 3-4 days a week. lives alone, except for her dog. is not able to work due to 100% reliance of her pacemaker. She is on a fixed income and hasnt extra money...barely covers her groceries, in fact she spends $1.31/day on a hamburger from mcd's bec thats about all she can eat, anyway, she needs help with her ameren bills and property taxes. they used to have a homestead exemption program, but apparently that is no longer available. Any other suggestions? Ameren told her to get a job...if only...

If your Mom is having trouble paying her property taxes she may want to think about selling and moving into senior apartments where her rent would be based on her income. Owning a home can become expensive if there is very little money coming in, you never know what will need major repair next.
