Dad was on Aricept, then Namenda was added. Then seraquel for the behavior issues. Nothing slowed things down in my opinion, but who knows?

My loved one was prescribed Cymbalta (for depression, anxiety and pain, as well as Ativan (anxiety). The Cymbalta worked out great. She has a script for Ativan as needed, but she doesn't need it often.

My mom takes ativan for anxiety as needed - which is tapering down as she adjusts to new living arrangements. She takes Norco (Vicodin) for sever hip pain. A little over a month ago her dr prescribed Haldol for her behaviors and tendencies for hysteria. I was apprehensive about this one as its a pretty heavy duty anti-psychotic, but it has really helped without leaving her emotional "flat" as some warned about. Shes still a mean, cranky old lady who talks to the staff in a manner that has me on auto-apology every time I'm there but believe it or not this is a significant improvement. In the past two weeks we have actually had a few visits that boarded dangerously close to pleasant!

My mom is on Remeron, Lexapro and a small dose of klonopin. She has never been angry or unpleasant but these meds rein in her anxiety and sense of dread ( which were lifelong issues, but which became more intense with dementia).
