He doesn't have dementia he has low blood oxygen levels due to COVID. I keep it checked when he seats for getting things I put his oxygen on and raise his levels and he is normal. DHR didn't honor his power of attorney. They denied him is right to 6 jury they lied about medicine being out and two of the same kind being out like he was mid taking it. I took his meds home with me at night and took them back in the am and I gave them to him. With Gods help I cared and keep him alive at 93 through 7 long months of COVID with no help from anyone DHR had no problem then with him being at home and me caring for him. I need to get him out he is grieving, he can't even carry on a conversation with anyone in this locked facility due to they have dementia and heavily medicated. He can't exercise or go outside and he loves nature more than anyone I know. I need him out of there today or he will die

This has been taken down right after I posted.

DHR is involved because there was a complaint. They investigated and found your father was at risk. As a Government agency they can override your POA. I guess there was a court hearing and a guardian assigned? If so, this is the person you should be talking to. You could/should have had a lawyer to defend him. I suggest you hire one now. If you don't have the money, then legal aid. The only way I see out of this is Dad being put thru a series of tests. You may need to show that you can either do or set up 24/7 care. Even if your Dads Dementia like symptoms were from COVID maybe DHR determined he should not have been left alone.

What were the circumstances that caused the DHR to place your father in MC? What did they tell you? This, apparently, is beyond your control. I think you need an attorney to help.

I am not sure of the actual question you're asking. Are you wanting to put your dad in a NH because he is depressed and grieving the death of your mother?

Yes, you can, but you need to have POA and go through the proper steps.

Has he been diagnosed and treated for depression? Perhaps an antidepressant might help him.

Does he live with you? Are you trying to be his primary caregiver? A lot of questions need to be answered before we can really help you.
