Spoke to my parent today, who is in the rehab facility recovering from a bout of pneumonia. My parent was completely hallucinating. I tried to talk to the nursing staff, the front desk, I even texted the executive director of this facility as he gives out his cell number on communications. I received no call, no answer nothing. I am not sure what to do next. Help, please.

Find Care & Housing
I don't know what is happening with some of these facilities. Some of the nursing homes that I've called over the course of two to three weeks are not returning calls. That concerns me! If you do not return phone calls now, what happens when my parent is in your facility?

Not only that, the one behavioural unit I found to try and get him on meds for his dementia, they are not trying just telling me he is fine. Everything that I reported does not exist but yet they don’t know when they plan to discharge.

I hope some changes have taken place for you.

Do you have the number for the state ombudsman assigned to the facility?

Are you able to go there physically?

How long has your parent been there?

Have you considered calling 911 if you are unable to get there yourself?

Hallucinations can be caused by urinary tract infections in the elderly. Not saying that is the case, it's just a good piece of information to have.
